Thailand in Haiku - Nakhon Sawan

The River

Just sat there a while;
the sound carried me away;
the sound of silence.

How dare you enter -
mere mortal - my ancient doors?
you have work to do.

Wat Nakhon Sawan,

you stand alone in splendor -

my mouth is agape.

The old Thai shop house;

Soya sauce, fish sauce (and beer),

what more do you need?

Pastel coloured paths

lead me to where I belong -

I am not ready.

I took your picture
as to remind me of death -

I will see you soon.

My old friend, Salaeng,

ugly buffalo of steel -

I go where you go.

Under roots of trees;

you are a good example

of what I should be.
